I absolutely love motorbike touring, and this trip changed my life by revealing to me on my way back down south my dream for the future.

Instagram post 2119900612239237304_996937807 #tiptuesday - SHOULD I USE A SPONGE OR A BRUSH?
This is something I get asked quite often, and it's understandable why - if you watch beauty gurus on YouTube or Instagram, you often will see them using beauty sponges like Beauty Blenders for applying foundation, concealers, setting powder, baking, finessing...pretty much any reason to use a beauty sponge, it's being used. The #1 reason for using a beauty sponge? It soaks up excess product that you've put on your face so that it should leave you with *just the right amount*. That's why you see them use TOO MUCH FOUNDATION, and TOO MUCH CONCEALER - because they know that they can soak up whatever is too much with their sponge. In that way, it's a relatively easy tool to use to create a decent base for your face. The top reasons for using a brush? Not wasting as much product as with a sponge, and also for precision - when you are using thinner or sheerer foundations (or even tinted moisturisers), you will want to be precise if you're putting down concealer to ensure it doesn't look splotchy and patchy between the thin texture of foundation and the thick coverage of a particularly full coverage concealer.
The clear difference between the two is that you will get through your foundations and concealers way faster if you are using a beauty sponge than if you use brushes. Brushes do soak up product, but not as much as a beauty sponge does. Thicker bodied brushes, like the big grey one pictured here, are great for smoothing out foundation over your face, but you can also use fluffier brushes which will spread a thinner layer of product over your face as well.
Beauty sponges will also wear out faster than brushes - a good set of brushes, treated well, will last you many years.
So the best bang for your buck? Brushes.Continued in the comments below 👇#beautysponge #makeupbrushes #mykitco #foundationbrushes #makeupartist #makeuptools #makeupdebate
Instagram post 2117792968119964973_996937807 10 hour check-in on #charlottetilbury #airbrushflawlessfoundation - apologies for sunscreen flashback making me look even more pale than I actually am 😂This foundation seriously is flawless on longwear, although I did bring you closer to my chin/mouth/nose because closeup you can see it's slightly breaking apart, however you can see from a short distance that it still looks fantastic even after 10 hours *and* with a thin layer *and* with a very moisturising base.
Overall it reminds me of a thinner, more natural-looking Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Foundation, and I did very much enjoy that one too 😁 I'm pleased with this and will be wearing it tomorrow too, but tomorrow I will set it with powders (Hourglass Veil Powder and Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder). 👍👍👍 #Foundation #weartest #makeupjunkie #checkin
Instagram post 2117502783797053516_996937807 *1st impressions Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Foundation*This is my finished look for today - it's settled down now to a nice shade for me (as promised from product info on her website). As you saw in my FB live earlier, I only applied a thin layer with a fluffy brush over heavily moisturised skin, so you can still see my freckles 😁
I'm very pleased that this can be applied in a thin layer and it still looks and feels good to me 30 mins in - it feels weightless on my skin, it's only barely beginning to sink into my dimple lines 😂 (easily removed by tapping over it), nice colour, decent coverage.
BTW I did not powder this down because I want to see what happens without it.
I'll check in later on with how it's performed today! 😁

Instagram post 2116244149637213354_996937807 #inmykit #Thursday
On Thursdays I want to talk about what I have in my makeup kit ready to use on clients.
In light of this, where better to start than with my choice of shimmering highlighters! In my kit, for my main highlighting powders, I have the absolute classic BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Powders in Pearl, Champagne Pop, and Chocolate Geode. There are so many highlighters I could've gone with but I wanted to stick with tried and true products I knew inside out.
Perhaps more unusual is that I also opted to include Pearl in my kit.  Pearl is notoriously silvery and can cause a bad grey cast if you pile it on too strongly. And therein is the key - *don't pile on too much of it*! Pearl is absolutely beautiful if you use a faint veil of it over pale skin.  Golden and yellow-based highlighters are the most popular because they tend to work best for a wider variety of skin-tones, and they add warmth to complexion; but sometimes I want to see something more silvery, because it generally suits fair, cool-toned skin better, and because when layered over a more golden highlighter, it creates the best strobe of highlight.Of course, the indomitable Champagne Pop had to be in my collection - that rose gold suits a wide variety of skin tones and can also act as the strobing highlight over Chocolate Geode on deeper skin tones.
Chocolate Geode is *the perfect* golden rose highlight on deeper skin tones - PERIODT.With all 3 I can highlight all skin tones without it leaving strange tones on your cheeks. The trick is to vary how heavily it is layered on.You do NOT need to pile it on like an Instagram filtered photo, or a YouTube Beauty Guru - that's what will create strange grey casts or browny-bronzey casts on your cheeks when you turn to face forwards. But a thin layer will leave a beautiful, healthy sheen, and of course you can layer it up steadily to create the exact level of strobe you want.
I adore these highlighters and love working with these on clients.#Highlighter @beccacosmetics #ShimmeringSkinPerfector #pressedpowder #pearl #champagnepop #chocolategeode
