Hello and Welcome Back to my Run Down on the Best. Makeup. Products. Of. 2018.

We’re most of the way through all the makeup that I’ve loved this year and today I’m talking about mascara.
I don’t wear falsies myself because I wear glasses, and my lashes already flutter against my lens, so I prefer curling my lashes and piling on mascara instead.
These two mascaras were my #Bestof2018.

First up is

Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes Volume 2 Black Vinyl

I absolutely loved and adored the original Legendary Lashes – it gave me big volume, slightly clumping for a very starry-eyed look – *loved* it.
…except that within 4 hours it would be halfway down my face, and the growth agent within it was making my bottom lashes grow so much that they were curling in on themselves onto my face!
So when Volume 2 came out which was supposed to not run down your face? I was at my local counter to get my hands on it ASAP, and this reformulation *did* last on my lashes all day long…as long as I didn’t get caught out and drenched in the rain.
There are some reviews of people saying that they had the reverse – the original didn’t run on them but Volume 2 did.  All I can suggest is that you try to get a sample and see if it runs on you or not – all makeup is personal and can react differently to each person, so a certain degree of trial and error, along with reviews and stories from consumers, is always needed.
The thing with this particular mascara is that, when you first start applying it, you don’t think it’s doing anything: you put on a layer, look in the mirror and think…hmmm…so you put on another layer…and another layer…and eventually you probably put it down and run out the door because *you gotta go*, then the next time you look in the mirror

Your lashes will never have been so voluminous and long, you might not need to bother with falsies. I’ve converted friends to this mascara and their mums stole it from their makeup bags, necessitating repurchases rather quickly!
This is by far one of my most favourite mascaras ever and I highly recommend you trying it, if you’re after a high-end mascara.

The other mascara I have enjoyed a lot in 2018 is

L’Oreal Lash Extatic (Lash Paradise)

For a drugstore mascara, this is something wonderful. My issue with most drugstore mascaras is that they tend to scratch and catch my eyelashes uncomfortably on application, which I don’t usually get with higher-end mascaras.

The L’Oreal Lash Xtatic however is a drugstore mascara that *feels* like a higher-end mascara when applying – it doesn’t catch and scratch at my lashes when applying, it separates and lengthens the lashes to make them really fluffy, you can jiggle the wand at the root of your lashes to make them clump slightly if you wanted to and it will still look great.
I enjoyed this a lot last year, I went through two of them and will repurchase again in the near future, and as far as drugstore mascaras go, this is the one I always recommend to everyone.

So tell me! What was your favourite mascara of 2018? Have you tried the Hourglass Caution mascara, because that’s next on my list to try within the next few weeks, my current Charlotte is getting old and needs replacing! Tell me, tell me, tell me (please!) in the comments below!
